A Golden Affair: Celebrating 50 Years of Extraordinary Service & Sisterhood
On December 1, 2023, the ladies of Iota Sigma Omega celebrated 50 years of extraordinary service and sisterhood at the Radisson Hotel in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Iota Sigma Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® was chartered on October 27, 1973. The Golden Affair gala was one to remember with many memories made. The gala was open to the public and hosted over 460 guests including five charter members, Alpha Kappa Alpha International and Regional Very Special guests, the Delta Chi undergraduate chapter, community officials, supporters and members of the National Panhellenic Council (Divine 9 organizations). The initiative was led by chairpersons Dana Boyd and Roxanne Myles with Chapter President Patsy Moore and Vice President Vanessa Coakley. Consistent with our initiatives of “service to all mankind”, the chapter donated to the Helen G. Fox Music Center of Kalamazoo. The keynote speaker was International First Vice President Charletta Wilson Jacks who congratulated and empowered our chapter members while delivering a captivating message that warmed everyone in attendance. The atmosphere exhibited class throughout the night with chapter members wearing emerald green in unison. Music was also led by Work in Progress Band and later Kalamazoo’s very own DJ Chuck where strolling and hustles occurred among cheers, laughter and an overall great time!
